Okay, I’ve got my idea and my pattern down and one model made.  Tomorrow night I’m going to make a handful of these puppies for our Earth Day event at work.  Of course they will hold more than 4 CD’s as this one only holds 4, but you get the idea.  I used one leg of an old ratty pair of jeans and some fabric scraps from a purse I made a long time ago.  Enjoy!

Boy Shorts

I’ve been wanting to take a stab at PJ pants for my son but just haven’t found the inspiration to get started on some.  Tonight was the night and in just 30 minutes, he had a new pair of PJ shorts.  I still need to have him try them on but I’m pretty sure they will fit.  I took a pair of some stretchy shorts he uses right now and just drew out a pattern based on that, sewed it all together in the way that I know how and kaching!  A fancy new pair of PJ shorts, blue/white light weight flannel fabric.   I’ll definitely be making a bunch more of these…both for personal use and to sell.  Hmmm, now I just need to find some old clothes to recycle and make some out of for my Earth Day project.  :)

Okay, I was home sick today and shortly before my son got home from school, I got up out of bed and was in a crafty mood.  I found a website where someone had made little notepads using scrap paper and Monopoly property cards.  I thought they were so cute I made a couple just for fun.  They are nothing special but I think I’m going to throw these in my purse to take special notes on.

Clutch for teacher

It was teacher appreciation week and I made this clutch for Chris’ teacher.  I asked her what her favorite colors were and she said green & purple.  So I used a beautiful green/brown fabric for the outside and green for the inside.  The bird applique on the outside is the same green fabric as the lining and the eye is a purple jewel.  And a clutch wouldn’t be complete without a wristband.  Here it is without further adeu…

Tennessee Purse

Lotsa pics…My friend liked my brown bag so much she requested I make her one just like it but with a big orange T on the front for Tennessee.  I made the pattern for the bag myself just by what kind of style I wanted & size.  I handmade the applique using the fabric for the lining, the outer fabric is a stretchy blue denim with a peek-a-boo bit of orange on the top end of the zipper and the lining is orange & quilted with soft fleece to give it stability & softness.  Two denim inner pockets as well and I added my label.

Power T Bag – just got started

Just got started on a bag for my very good friend Kelly.  She has never had a denim purse and she is so into TENNESSEE.  So she picked out this beautiful denim fabric and matching orange for the T as well as lining.  So far I’ve made the appliqued “T” (yes, I grabbed a pic off the internet of the Power T, hand drew it and then traced it onto the fabric, cut it out, attached it to fusible thick interfacing and finished off the edges twice with a zig zag stitch, then sewed it to the bag) and sewn the outer fabric together with the gusset.  Tomorrow night I’ll work on getting the zipper ready to go into the top, add the pockets to the lining and try to piece it all together.  I also need to work on the straps.  Here is a picture of what I’ve done so far…

Okay, so I took my first stab at winging some glasses cases (two different kinds of styles…one is envelope style and the other is just a sleeve)…both with velcro closures.

Cherries Jubilee – part deux

The first cherry purse I made was a little too big for my friend so I’m going to be listing that one in my Etsy shop and this is the one I’m giving her tomorrow.  It’s a smaller version but the same cherry design on front (designed/hand drawn & appliqued by me).

Lovin’ the Wallet

I found a tutorial on Craftster to make a wallet and here it is.  Today I ventured and made one…actually 3 of the same one but I wanted to get it down pat before I tried making any more of them out of other fabric.  I think I need to replenish my stash of iron in interacing though…I’m running low and I’ve got a ton of sew in kind but it’s a lot thicker than what I need.

Just like riding a bike

It’s been a while since I’ve sewn anything as finding time to sew between working a full time job and being a full time mom has taken every last bit out of me.  But as of late, I’ve “made” the time for me to sew and craft.  I thought I’d share the purse I made for myself.  I searched for ideas on what kind of purse to make but just couldn’t find anything that sparked my interest.  So onto paper I went to sketch out an idea, draw a pattern and just do it.  The fabric I used I got years ago from Walmart I think.  It’s a soft cotton but looks like micro suede with criss cross stitches on it.  I stitched over those to hold some thick felt to give it sturdiness.  Then the lining I think I got from the Goodwill.  There is two pockets inside and I used my new labels I bought from someone on Etsy.  The handles have roping inside that I got from a friend of mine at work, she was going to use it for necklaces but they ended up looking to gawdy and I acquired them.  They work very well with handles like this.  I just cut fabric to length, folded it over a couple times and placed the roping in the middle.  I then sewed up the edge…then sewed it onto the outer fabric.  Now I shopped around numerous tutorials for a zip top on a purse and couldn’t find one that wasn’t too long to figured out, didn’t require me to disassemble the zipper or just didn’t make sense.  So I tried my own ideas on a few small pouches…all of which didn’t work.  Then I dreamed of a way (crazy, I know), and just did it tonight.  Luckily it worked!!
